Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Dated (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a date review platform for couples, operated from Vancouver, BC, Canada. You can reach us at support@getdated.app.

2. What we collect

We collect information you give us, information generated when you use Dated, and information from other sources:

Account information — such as your email address, username, display name and profile photo
Content you submit — such as venues, ratings, reviews, photos, tags, date plans, comments and preferences
Couple information — if you link with a partner, the connection between your accounts
Usage information — how you interact with Dated, such as pages viewed, features used, searches, and links you select
Device and technical information — such as browser and device type, operating system, IP address and approximate location derived from it
Information from others — such as a partner who links with you, and venue information from public and commercial sources

3. How we use your information

To provide, maintain and improve Dated, and to develop new features
To personalise content and recommendations, including date suggestions
To understand how Dated is used, through analytics
To communicate with you, including service emails and, if you opt in, marketing emails
To show advertising, sponsored content and partner offers
To create aggregated or de-identified insights, which we may use or share for business purposes
To keep Dated secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms
To comply with legal obligations

4. How we share information

Publicly — reviews, ratings, photos, comments and profile information you choose to make public can be seen by anyone, including people without an account
With your partner — if you link accounts, some of your activity is visible to them
With service providers — companies that process information on our behalf to run Dated (see section 5)
With business partners — such as venues, advertisers and affiliate partners. We share aggregated or de-identified information, or personal information only with your consent.
For legal reasons — when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of Dated, our users or others
In a business transaction — if Dated is involved in a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganisation or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction

5. Service providers and international transfers

We use service providers for hosting and databases, authentication, email delivery, maps and location services, AI services that power features such as date recommendations, analytics, and advertising. They may only use your information to provide their services to us.

Some providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Information held there is subject to local law and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities in those jurisdictions.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We and our partners use cookies, local storage and similar technologies:

Essential — to keep you signed in, remember your settings and keep Dated secure. These are always on.
Analytics — to understand how Dated is used. If you accept, these may recognise you across visits and, when you are signed in, be associated with your account. If you decline or haven’t chosen, we still measure usage, using methods that do not store information on your device.
Advertising — third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to Dated and other websites. If you decline, ads are not personalised.

You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings, and from other vendors at youradchoices.ca. Blocking essential cookies in your browser will sign you out.

7. Links, partners and sponsored content

Dated links to venues and other third-party sites, which have their own privacy policies. We may measure when links are used, and partners may be told that a visit came from Dated. Some recommendations, listings and links may be sponsored, or may earn us a commission; sponsored placements are identified as such.

8. Your choices and rights

You may request access to, or correction or deletion of, your personal information, and you may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits. Email support@getdated.app. You can delete your account in your profile settings, change cookie choices with “Cookie settings”, and unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in each email.

9. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed for the purposes in this policy. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except where we need to keep it longer for legal, security or fraud-prevention reasons. Aggregated or de-identified information, and public content in de-identified form, may be kept.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

11. Children

Dated is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email or by a notice on Dated before they take effect. Continued use of Dated after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
